Top 5 Ways Rover.com Fetches Developers

Today, Geekwire published a guest post that I wrote about the challenges of recruiting at a startup.

Due to the journalistic integrity of Geekwire, I couldn’t push Rover.com too much, but I will now.  We’re hiring developers…take a look at http://jobs.rover.com and share it with all your friends!

Let me share with you a few quick thoughts on why Rover is a great place to work.

The biggest conflict of the day is a friendly tug a war
I can’t quite put my finger on it, but our office has the most chill vibe.  I think that’s because we have 6-12 dogs in the office daily.  Dogs are earnest, curious, eager and happy…all good traits to have in a team…and by osmosis having them around, that rubs off on our culture.

Chasing your tail gets you nowhere
In my short time at Rover, I’ve really come to appreciate the extra moment the team takes to aim before we shoot.  While we’re a fast moving team,  we don’t waste a lot of time chasing our tails.

Redefining “eating your dog food”
Almost everybody who works here is a customer too!  We are both dog sitters and dog owners, and we can truly say that we understand our customers.

It’s not a “dog eat dog” world
We’re a small team, and collaboration is high.  We value face-to-face conversations over epic email threads.

Dogs are people too
Like many companies, our kitchen is stocked with snacks.  But, here’s the catch: we have some cupboards of human snacks and some cupboards of doggie snacks!

Me: Yum…these taste good, what are they?
Co-worker: Uh, I think those are for the dogs.
Office Dogs: [staring at me, confused]
Co-worker: Hahahahahah!

Yep, that’s how it rolls around Rover HQ.  If you’d like to join us, visit http://jobs.rover.com for more info.
